Summary of Study:

What was studied

Fifteen healthy adult men whose work involves sustained, cognitively demanding days — business owners, executives, consultants and creators — took part in a pilot study examining two questions: whether following the Operator State method improves everyday performance and recovery, and whether the Operator AM/PM protocol adds further benefit on top of the framework itself.

How it was run

The study ran in three stages.

Baseline. For 14 days participants continued their normal routines while sleep, cognitive performance, working behaviour, stress and recovery were monitored.

Framework. Participants then adopted the Operator State method — consistent sleep and wake times, structured focused work, appropriate exercise and improved evening recovery behaviours — and kept it for the remainder of the study.

Randomised crossover. Participants then took either Operator AM/PM or identical-looking placebo capsules for 30 days. After a washout period the groups switched, so every participant experienced both the framework with placebo and the framework with Operator, without knowing which they were taking. Because each participant was compared against himself, natural differences in productivity, sleep and stress tolerance between individuals didn't distort the comparison — which matters in a small sample.

What was found

Compared with placebo, participants taking Operator showed:

  • Sustained attention 18% better, with 21% fewer major attention lapses
  • Afternoon cognitive decline reduced by 41% (an 11.2% drop from 9am to 3pm on placebo, versus 6.6% on Operator)
  • 24% more deep work per day — 3h 27m versus 2h 47m — without materially longer working hours
  • 19% fewer digital distractions and 16% less unnecessary task switching
  • Evening mental fatigue 18% lower, perceived stress 15% lower, and a 22% improvement in the ability to switch off from work
  • Time to fall asleep 32% faster — 17 minutes versus 25 — with sleep efficiency rising from 86.8% to 91.5%
  • Night-time wakefulness down 23%, total sleep up 21 minutes per night
  • Overnight HRV 9% higher and morning readiness 16% higher

Notably, the framework alone — while taking placebo — already produced modest improvements in sleep consistency, deep-work duration, distraction frequency, morning readiness and subjective stress. Participants generally achieved their strongest results when the framework and the supplement were combined.

How to read these results

This was a pilot study of 15 participants. It tested Operator as a complete AM/PM protocol rather than testing individual ingredients, so no single improvement can be attributed to any one compound. As the authors note, a larger randomised controlled trial would be required to determine whether these findings reproduce across a broader population and to establish the magnitude, consistency and statistical significance of the effects observed.

Operator is a food supplement, not a medicine, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Individual responses vary.
